BiM Course Nieuwegein
The BiM course lasts 2 days and is primarily practice-based. You’ll gain insight into the BiM method, experience a number of BiM activities, and learn how to work with the activities. After Day 1, you can immediately get started with one of the BiM activities at your workplace. There is a period of 6–8 weeks between the first and second course days, giving you time to complete the homework assignment. On day 2, we will discuss the assignment, and you’ll receive supervision and peer support. You will repeat three BiM activities from day 1 and learn new BiM activities. This will give you a solid foundation for tailoring the BiM activities to your participant.
The study load or pensum is 2 × 6 hours on course days. In the intervening period of 6 to 8 weeks, the homework assignment is completed at your own location and you can expect this to take 6 × 2 hours. In total, this amounts to a minimum study load of 24 hours.
The BiM course is aimed at professionals working with people with PMD, and in elderly care. We also offer a BiM course for parents of children with profound multiple disabilities. No specific prior training is required to take the BiM course, but we do consider it important that you have an affinity with the target group.
You get the BiM book with background information and the theoretical foundation of the BiM method, a schema for the initial situation, observation, and a work plan for goal-oriented BIMming, BiM activity calendars 1 + 2, a USB stick with the BiM music, 5 different BiM materials, a BiM bag, and the digital BiM certificate. We also provide coffee/tea/water and a snack, and you’ll be served a tasty lunch.
